Getting To Placencia Belize
The Placencia Peninsula in southern Belize is one of the country’s most popular vacation destinations. Getting to Belize and Placencia is easier than ever with several nonstop flights from the United States and Canada. There are several options for traveling to Laru Beya Resort in Placencia which we are more than happy to arrange for you.
HOW TO GET TO BELIZE
Belize is a very easy destination to get to from almost anywhere in the world. There are daily flight options from several international Airports in the United States, including direct two-hours flights from Miami, Atlanta, Denver, Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston, or Dallas. Our packages do not include international airfare. Upon reserving your international flights (be sure to fly into Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport – Airport Code: BZE), we make getting to Laru Beya as easy and stress-free as possible. All domestic transfers from the BZE Airport to the resort are included in our rates and are arranged by our reservation team. We advise that you arrive in Belize by 3:45 pm. For your departure, anytime after 10:00 am will do. If you’re unable to arrive at Belize International Airport (BZE) by 3:45 PM but still wish to reach the resort that same evening, we can arrange a ground transfer to bring you directly from the airport to the resort. Ground transfer from Belize International Airport takes approximately three and a half hours and carries a surcharge fee.
ARRIVING IN BELIZE CITY BY PLANE
When your international flight arrives at Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport (Airport Code: BZE), expect to spend anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 hour getting your luggage and clearing customs & immigration.
FLYING TO PLACENCIA
Placencia is home to a small domestic airport with several direct flights from the Belize International Airport daily. Five flights per day connect Belize City with Placencia, starting early in the morning and running until late afternoon. This is a quick and easy way to get to Laru Beya Resort! At Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport, after clearing customs and entering through double doors, take an immediate left in the same building to the domestic airline terminal for a 35-minute puddle jumper flight to Placencia.
ARRVING IN PLACENCIA BY PLANE
If you have booked our All Inclusive Package, after landing in Placencia, you will be warmly welcomed by a resort team member. It is a very small airport and very few people deplane, so recognizing you is not a problem. However, for your peace of mind, the driver will either be wearing a Laru Beya or EZ Investment uniform. Please also keep in mind that the employees of the local airline are also very familiar with our staff members, so you can always ask them if you have any questions. Our team member will drive you to the resort (about a 8-10 minute drive)…soon to be greeted by a famous Mosquito Bite cocktail!
HOW TO GET TO PLACENCIA BELIZE BY SHUTTLE/PRIVATE TRANSFER
For those who prefer to travel via land, we offer a private shuttle service from the Belize City Airport directly to Laru Beya Resort in Placencia. The total drive time is about three and a half hours and the road contains many scenic views along the Hummingbird and Southern Highway. Please inquire at the time of your reservation to secure your ground shuttle.
HOW TO GET TO PLACENCIA BELIZE BY CAR
Several agencies rent cars for private use from the Belize Airport and several locations throughout the city. The average price of a car rental is $75 USD per day.
- After exiting the airport, follow the signs for the Western Highway.
- Pass through two roundabouts to remain on the Western Highway for 23 kilometers (14 miles).
- Follow the signs to turn left (south) onto the Coastal Highway.
- After 58 kilometers (36 miles) turn left onto the Hummingbird Highway and follow the posted signs until you arrive in Placencia Village at the southern tip of the peninsula.
- Most lodgings are either in the village or just beyond further north on the peninsula.
HOW TO GET TO PLACENCIA BELIZE BY TAXI
All local taxi companies offer direct service to Placencia from the airport in Belize City. Prices fluctuate depending on your negotiation skills and availability.
HOW TO GET TO PLACENCIA BELIZE BY BOAT
Currently, there are no fixed water routes between Belize City and Placencia although some private charter companies are more than happy to take you to any destination along the coast.
HOW TO GET TO PLACENCIA BELIZE BY BUS
Two different bus lines connect Belize City and Placencia. The first bus departs Belize City at 1:00 pm and the trip takes about five hours. The price of the bus is around $30 USD and no advance reservations are required.
