The world hasn’t ended, but this is the end of the world – or one of them according to British writer Aldous Huxley. We prefer to think it’s a Brave New World – and you’re invited!
Come join us on December 6, 2015, for the annual End of the World Marathon in Placencia, Belize.
Come for the run and stay for the fun in a Caribbean wonderland of beautiful beaches, mystical Mayan temples, spectacular caves, pristine rain forests, and the second largest barrier reef in the world.
First established in 2012, the Placencia Marathon and Half Marathon was held a few days before the end of the Maya Calendar on December 21. The date is especially significant in Belize, where Maya have lived for hundreds if not thousands of years.
Although the world did not end in 2012, the name remains in honor of Huxley.
If you will be attending this year’s marathon, make sure to take advantage of the 25% discount on accommodations that Laru Beya resort is offering to attendees. The resort is located next to the Garifuna village of Seine Bight in the Placencia Peninsula and perfectly placed for adventure – visiting Maya archaeological sites and caves, looking at local wildlife, or diving in the Barrier Reef. Or, as their title says, you can just relax on the beach, in reach of the pool, restaurant and bar.
Laru Beya offers several types of accommodations and packages to help tailor your vacation to your specific needs. Romantic getaway or family vacation, Laru Beya has the perfect (and perfectly affordable) vacation waiting for you.
We’ll see you in December at the end of the world!
