    Sun Country Flights to Belize

This year, residents of Minnesota and the Upper Midwest will have the option to enjoy a getaway winter vacation to the sunny shores of Belize in Central America. Sun Country Airlines, based in Minneapolis, has just announced that it will begin flying to Belize for the first time ever beginning on December 22, 2018.

Each Saturday throughout the 2018/19 winter season, Sun Country Airlines will be flying roundtrip from Minneapolis-St. Paul (airport code: MSP) to Belize City (airport code: BZE) with a journey time of around five hours. With this new announcement, Sun Country will be joining Southwest Airlines, United, Delta, and American Airlines in providing non-stop service to Belize from an American city.

Currently, residents of the Midwest can fly to Belize from Denver or Chicago in the United States or from Calgary or Toronto in Canada. Sun Country’s new route will make it even easier and more affordable for Midwest residents to enjoy a vacation in Belize, the only country in Central America where English is the official language.

Visitors wanting to warm up with a vacation in Belize should head to the Placencia Peninsula, one of the top beach destinations in the country. Measuring just half a mile wide and 16 miles long, the Placencia Peninsula is often called “the island you can drive to” due to its gorgeous golden sand beaches and proximity to some of the top scuba diving and snorkeling sites on the Belize Barrier Reef.

One of the finest places to stay in Placencia is Laru Beya, a member of TripAdvisor’s Hall of Fame and a resort renowned for its customer service. The resort has lovely rooms and suites facing the sparkling waters of the Caribbean, a freshwater infinity pool, a lending library, the country’s only miniature golf course, and a fully stocked bar. Guests of the resort have the complimentary use of kayaks, Hobie Cat sailboats, bicycles, and high-speed wireless internet. Laru Beya is also home to the popular Quarterdeck Restaurant with three floors of open-air dining just steps from the beach.

Laru Beya regularly organizes guided tours to all of the top activities in the country, including snorkeling and diving on the reef, trips to Maya ruins, hiking and birdwatching expeditions, zip lining, cave tubing, and horseback riding.

This winter, come and warm up with a fabulous beach vacation at Laru Beya Resort in Placencia, Belize!
